May was a very fortunate month for my bookshelves. I volunteer for my children’s elementary school coordinating two Scholastic Book fairs each year. As one of the perks for the dozens of hours of volunteer time is a pass to go to the annual Scholastic BOGO sale. The BEST feature is the build-a-box for $25 where you can shove as many books as you can from a certain area (slightly damaged, clearance, going out of stock) in to a box and you even get a 2nd one FREE! Most of these books came from that sale, including the hardcovers of The One and The Crown, along with the illustrated Chamber of Secrets which just had a slight tear to the dust jacket. I also got double the book boxes this month because OwlCrate had a delay to their April box so it arrived at my house in May.
In total, I hauled over 65 books.
Intermediate readers: 22 with the Star Wars Jedi series the ones my son is excited about. Raymie Nightengale is the one I’m most excited about.
Middle Grade books: 18 with Aru Shah in the End of Time hardcover being my best value find (besides the illustrated Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets which retails for $40 and I was able to put in my BOGO Build-A-Box along with at least 40 others.
Young Adult Books: 14, even though I am excited for all the ones I received in OwlCrate and FairyLoot book boxes, I’m most excited for The Traitor’s Game by Jennifer A. Nielsen.
Graphic Novels: 7 – I was excited to discover the graphic novelization of Legend by Marie Lu.
